Getting started in web3 through Hackathons ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿคท Hackathons, what ??

Hackathons are a great way to interact, learn and build projects. I have been participating in hackathons for a year. Before all the web3 buzz, the quantity of hackathons were not as insane as it's now. Previously, hackathons were just about building stuffs and winning. The Project to Product ratio was not that good.

๐Ÿฅท What changed in web3 hackathons ?

Projects and Utilities are the heart of web3. Almost every growing blockchain like Polygon, Ethereum, NEAR, Solana, Celo, Tezos etc.. have been into communities, constantly growing their ecosystem. Web3 hackathons are super productive for anyone looking to get into blockchain development.

๐Ÿคบ Getting Started

  1. Registring for hackathon - There are plenty of good platform to search and register for hackathons. Some to mention are Devpost, Devfolio, Gitcoin and more.
  2. Check the prereqiste - Every web3 hackathon that I have seen till now are beginner's friendy. Even if you don't know anything, you can participate.
  3. Check the Workshop Calendar - It's a great way to start building while learning through the workshops. Most of the hackathons consist of Basic-to-Intermideate workshops, encouraging everyone to join.
  4. Try to get an innovative project idea - It's important to know "what to build", just an idea would work !!
  5. Team Up - It's optional but a team with different kind of developers can help you approach the problem in a better way.
  6. Build - Implement your learnings as per the workshop. Start building, search through official docs and get help if needed.
  7. Get Help - As I said, web3 is all about community. It's easy to get help from the community, you just have to ask. Join their discord(mostly), slack or telegram that they will provide in the hackathon. Remember, "there is no bad question".
  8. Build and Repeat

I hope you will find this usefull !!
